For the second time in six months, there’s a new Star Wars film hitting theaters. Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres on May 25th, and tickets have just gone on sale.
Sales begin today on what’s an unofficial Star Wars holiday: May 4th. You can get tickets for major chains, including AMC, Cinemark, Alamo Drafthouse, and IMAX. You can also pick up tickets through online retailers such as Fandango, Movietickets.com, and Atom Tickets. Most theaters will be screening the film a bit early as well: tickets are on sale for Thursday, May 24th, beginning at 7PM.
There’ll also be some special fan events at some of the chains. Theatergoers for AMC theaters will get AMC-exclusive replica dice, button set, a poster, and some popcorn, while Cinemark Theatres will be giving out a poster, novelty buttons, and free popcorn. Alamo Drafthouse will be selling exclusive drinking glasses from Mondo. Fans who purchase their tickets through Fandango will also get a poster.
Regal Cinema’s IMAX theaters will be holding a pair of fan events on Saturday, May 26th, and Saturday, June 2nd. Regal will be giving away collectible posters, while AMC’s IMAX theaters will do the same on Sunday, May 27th and Sunday, June 3rd, with their own exclusive posters.
The film arrives on the heels of another huge hit from Disney, Avengers: Infinity War, which pulled in $250 million in its first weekend, beating out Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the biggest debut of all time. Solo doesn’t look as though it’ll come close to that, but publications such as Deadline and Variety are reporting that it has the potential to be a huge debut when it hits, estimating that the film will earn anywhere from $165 to $175 million at the box office.
